This garden began in 1839, when plants were brought in from Milan. Over the years, many more botanical species made their way here, mainly from Europe and Northern Africa. The garden became public in 1923, and now it can be visited by abyone — it's a perfect getaway from the busy Sintagma square. Along with plants, there are other things to be seen: a small lake with ducks, many ponds with fish and turtles, a child library, a cafe, a Roman mosaic and ancient ruins.
