Göreme is just one of the many villages in the Cappadocia region, in Central Anatolia, Turkey. Cappadocia is known for its unique landscape — the softness of the rock formations, along with centuries of erosion and human intervention, have created the silhouettes you can see below. Today, the region is very touristic: one of the most famous tours is the hot air balloon ride over the mountains.
We chose Göreme because we wanted to visit the Göreme Open Air Museum, a complex of churches that gives us hints as to how early Christianity developed in the area. Learn more about the Museum on the next event!
This is the travel journal of our trip around Greece and Turkey, in the fall of 2019.
