Pamukkale ("Cotton Castle") is another of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Turkey. At the top of the site, we find Hierapolis, an ancient city famous for its thermal springs. Over centuries, as the water full of minerals descended the hill, it created a white coating that looks like snow and small, clear-blue pools. It is a natural formation like no other in the world.
When you enter, you have to take off your shoes, since your feets will most likely get wet and, at some points, the path can be slippery. Going up is pretty quick, but you'll definitely stop for photographs! At the top, you put your shoes on again and visit the ruins of Hierapolis, which include a fortification and a theater. There's also a restaurant, a souvenir shop and a thermal pool there, though you have to pay extra to swim in it. When you're done, you take your shoes off and go down Pamukkale one last time — this time, stopping to see the beautiful sunset, if you're lucky!
