In this volume, historians and scholars of various fields present the study of the main Lambertinian treatises, with the common goal of understanding the ratioof the texts, to establish the degree of unity of their inspiration, to clarify the relationship of the treaties with the main lines of action and reform realized during the years of the pontificate (1740-1758). The interventions are collected in three sections: the first dedicated to sources and archives provides useful tools to orientate themselves in the vast unpublished material of provenance of Benedict XIV, preserved in particular in the two main archives of Lambertinian sources, the University Library of Bologna and the Vatican Secret Archive. The second section of essays focuses on the issues that have attracted scholars' attention in recent years: decisions regarding the sacraments and rites; the reform of the censory procedure and of the Index; the regulation of 'lay' power over the beneficiary system."
